Suomy Named Official Helmet of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

World-Class Raceway and Top Helmet Manufacturer Make Ideal Partners

MONTEREY, Calif. (April 18, 2011) – With both rider and driver safety in mind, Suomy today was named the official helmet of the 2011 season at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

“I am very pleased to have Suomy join our family of sponsors and partners,” said Gill Campbell CEO/general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “Suomy produces a top quality product that visitors to our race track enjoy seeing on their favorite riders and yearn to own themselves.”

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca hosts five world-class race weekends each season, with elite road racing series from around the world visiting the Monterey Peninsula, drawing hundreds of thousands of fans. Some of the most prestigious racers in history: Roger Penske, Dan Gurney, Parnelli Jones, Kenny Roberts, Bobby Rahal, Wayne Rainey and Valentino Rossi, have experienced the high speed turns and the iconic Corkscrew of Mazda Raceway.

As the official helmet, Suomy will be used by all occupants in the popular VIP Pace Car Hot Lap program at each of the major events held at Mazda Raceway. Each year hundreds of guests enjoy VIP Hot Laps on the 11-turn road course in the latest Mazda Pace Cars.

Suomy was founded in Italy in 1948, making Vespa windscreens. Umberto Monti began making motorcycle racing helmets at the factory in 1998. Over the years the brand has grown, launching in the U.S. in 1999. The manufacturer produces 100 percent hand-made, ultra-lightweight helmets with vibrant, high quality graphics. For Suomy, the goal is always the same: to ensure the quality of a technologically advanced and “made in Italy” product through the passion for racing and the ambition to win the next world championship.

“We create one of the best and safest helmets in the world and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is one of the finest and most technically-demanding race tracks in the world,” said Jim Doyle, president of Suomy America. “With the MotoGP World Championship and AMA Pro Racing at Mazda Raceway, our partnership really makes sense.”
